OUR FATHER’S BASKET INTERNATIONAL
and to share Jesus with the lost.
Our Father’s Basket International is a nonprofit organization in Uganda, using farming as a way to care for people and, ultimately, to share Jesus.
In October of 2022, we began by leasing land in a village in Uganda, and since, we have purchased land. We primarily grow maize (corn) and beans, but we also have a large grove of banana trees, mango trees, and are now growing a variety of vegetables as well. We use a concept called Farming God’s Way, which has been around since the 1980’s in Africa. (You can read more about this on our Farming page.) This method produces a much larger yield than the conventional practices that are used, but it requires training and a lot of dedication.
The people in the village are encouraged to come train on the farm, and the hope is that they will take the knowledge and skills to use on their own land.
While farming is a way to help improve their circumstance, it’s also an open door to share a meal together and learn about who Jesus is.
The meaning behind “Our Father’s Basket” is to be a reminder that even orphans, who do not have an earthly father, do have a Heavenly Father who loves them, hears their cries, and cares for their needs. Jehovah Jireh.
Psalm 145:14-19
“The Lord upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to You, and You give them their food in due season. You open Your hand; You satisfy the desire of every living thing. The Lord is righteous in all His ways and kind in all His works. The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear Him; He also hears their cry and saves them.”
